How to Use the FBA Profit Calculator - Complete Guide

Our FBA Profit Calculator helps you estimate your potential profit before listing products on Amazon. Follow this step-by-step guide to get accurate calculations.

Step 1: Select Your Marketplace

Start by selecting the Amazon marketplace where you plan to sell. Different marketplaces have different fee structures:

  • USA: Most comprehensive fee structure
  • UK: European fee rates
  • Canada: Canadian marketplace fees
  • Germany: European Union rates
  • India: Indian marketplace structure
  • UAE: Middle East rates

The calculator automatically adjusts all fees based on your marketplace selection.

Step 2: Enter Product Information

Product Name (Optional)

Enter a name to help you identify this calculation later. This is saved with your calculation history.

Product Category

Select your product category. This is important because:

  • Referral fees vary by category (8% to 20%)
  • The calculator auto-fills the correct referral fee percentage
  • Some categories have special fee structures

Pricing

  • Selling Price: The price you'll list the product for on Amazon
  • Cost Price: Your total cost per unit (manufacturing, sourcing, etc.)
  • Quantity: Number of units you plan to sell

Step 3: Product Specifications

Weight

Enter the product weight. You can use pounds (lbs) or kilograms (kg). The calculator converts automatically for accurate fee calculations.

Dimensions

Enter length, width, and height. Use inches or centimeters. These determine your product size tier and fulfillment fees.

Product Type

  • Standard: Most products fall into this category
  • Oversize: Products exceeding standard size limits
  • Special Oversize: Very large or heavy items

The calculator helps determine the correct type based on your dimensions, but you can override if needed.

Step 4: Cost Breakdown

Shipping to Amazon

Total cost to ship your inventory to Amazon fulfillment centers. Divide total shipping cost by number of units.

Packaging Cost

Cost per unit for product packaging (boxes, bubble wrap, etc.)

Labeling Cost

Cost per unit for FNSKU labels and other required labeling

Photography Cost

Cost per unit for product photography (divide total cost by units)

Step 5: Advertising Costs

Choose your advertising strategy:

  • None: No advertising costs
  • ACOS-based: Enter your target ACOS (Advertising Cost of Sale) percentage. The calculator estimates ad spend based on revenue.
  • Fixed: Enter a fixed advertising budget per unit

Step 6: Advanced Options

Storage Duration

How many months you expect inventory to be stored. Affects monthly storage fee calculations.

Return Rate

Expected percentage of returns (default 5%). Higher return rates increase processing fees.

Long-Term Storage

Number of units expected to be stored over 365 days. These incur additional long-term storage fees.

Other Costs

Any additional costs per unit (customs, duties, etc.)
